I saw it a day after you, on a iMax screen. Too many close up face shots and not being a Star Trek fan, I can say that the movie was entertaining, but it could have been written better.
The Romance was random.
McCoy was fucking badass, in fact, everyone BUT Jim was badass.
The action was okay.
Story is kinda tired, which for a "fresh start" you'd expect something more new.
And speaking of "fresh starts" they erradicated the entire Star Trek timeline that was over 30 years in memory, which if I was a die hard fan of the series, I'd be kinda upset about that.
And the ending was tacked on.
5/5 in my book.

I don't know man, I liked that theme too. But they are probably going to make a Next Generation film.
